Ahh this time of the year again... Tax Question about EIC and CTC?

If I have a daughter and I live with her mother and we are not married, can we both have her on as a EIC with our Federal Taxes? and if not do we both get a Child Tax credit?

thanks in advance,

No to both. Only one person gets to claim the child for EITC and CTC. Ususally whoever claims her as a dependent. There are lots of %26quot;tests%26quot; to see who gets to claim her. Check with your tax preparer or irs.gov to see what those tests are.

Only one per child.

No, only 1 person can claim the child. I suggest using the hrblock tax calculator. See who would get the better refund by claiming your daughter, file that way way and split the refund.

You can only claim a child once, as a dependent, for EIC and for CTC. Can%26#039;t dip your hand in the basket twice there buddy.
