I am a single mum and am expecting my second child . I dont know what I am entitled too. I work partime when I go off on maternity leave do I still recieve working tax credit as well as child tax credit? Please help!

I work 16hrs does this effect the amout of matenity leave money I recieve and does this effect my working tax?

if you live in canada you are entitled to your child tax credit as long as you don%26#039;t make over a certain amount the more money you make the less they give you but it is based on the tax yr prior to the one we are in i don%26#039;t know anything about a working tax credit but with maternity leave you make a percentage of what you would usually make somewhere between 55 and 70 percent of what you would normally make plus you will get a bit of money for each child you have (if your income is low it is also based on your previous tax yr) with my first born they added 70 dollars every 2 weeks after i had him to my maternity pay i don%26#039;t know how much they will add this time i just had my second but my family is also in a higher tax bracket so i am not expecting as much to be added for each of them

just a hint as soon as you stop working get your record of employment into the office right away and make sure you mark the 28 days from when you give it to them thats when you can expect to get your first payment then you can call if you don%26#039;t get payed they lose stuff alot

ps i also only worked 2 days a week 16 hours after i had my first child and that is the maternity pay i am getting now

I work 16hrs does this effect the amout of matenity leave money I recieve and does this effect my working tax?

You may be only entitled to UNPAID maternity leave when you have your baby because you are not a full time employee.Check with your companys human resource department.Regardless, when you file your income taxes(depending on your gross income) you should be able to take both credits.Call your local h%26amp;r block or jackson hewitt office with further tax questions.( I was able to get both) Good luck!
