Working tax credit & sick pay???

Hi all,

I%26#039;m a single parent with one child... I currently recieve working tax and family tax credit but I have been on sick for a week and just been given another sick note for a further two weeks.

Does anyone know how much sick pay is and if I will be able to get housing benefit or any other kind of supplement?

The weekly rate of Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) for days of sickness from 6 April 2007 is 鎷?2.55.

You be eligible for some form of Housing Benefit - best to see your local benefits department about that

it is about 鎷?0pw for ssp , , go to your local council and ask them about benefits they will help you with the forms.

However, it depends on your contract of employment, some compaines will continue to pay your full salary, made up from ssp and if ssp is less than your full salary a top up to your full salary.

There are a lot of conditions etc but don%26#039;t be put off. It should not effect your tax credits but if in doubt give the tax credit helpline a ring on 0845 300 3900
